Article 38 of Law 448 of 28 December 2001 lays
down that under certain conditions, retirees collecting Italian
pensions could be eligible to receive increased retirement
benefits up to Euro 516.46 (equal to one million lire). The
increase is scheduled to take effect as of 1 January 2002.
Pensioners may be eligible for the increase
under the following conditions:
AGE AND NUMBER OF YEARS OF
CONTRIBUTIONS
(including foreign contributions in the event
of retirement under special conventions):
- 70 years of age, regardless of the number of
years of contributions
- 69 years, with at least 2 years and 6 months
of contributions
- 68 years, with at least 7 years and 6 months
of contributions
- 67 years, with at least 12 years and 6
months of contributions
- 66 years, with at least 17 years and 6
months of contributions
- 65 years, with at least 22 years and 6
months of contributions
- 60 years, for those collecting disability
pensions.
INCOME
- personal annual income of less than Euros
6,713.98 (equal to Lire 13,000,000);
- personal annual income plus spouse's income
totalling less than Euros 11,271.39 (equal to Lire 21,824,000).
For residents abroad, the total amount of the
additional benefits cannot be more than Euros 123.77, equal to
the difference between the minimum retirement benefits in 2002
and Euros 516.46.
If you feel that you meet these requirements,
you should contact the Italian Consulate or an Italian Aid
Office where you will receive further information and
instructions and can fill out an application form requesting an
adjustment of your retirement benefits.
Please submit the following documents to the
Consulate or Aid Office:
- a copy of the most recent receipt of Italian
retirement benefits payment;
- a copy of the most recent receipt of foreign
retirement benefits payment;
- a copy of the most recent receipt of
spouse's Italian retirement benefits payment;
- a copy of the most recent receipt of
spouse's foreign retirement benefits payment. |
